Restaurant Review: Malibu Kitchen

Malibu Kitchen at The Ned - Healthy Californian Restaurant

I recently had lunch at Malibu Kitchen at The Ned in London with some colleagues and my, my was the food good! The Ned is a spectacular venue with a eight different restaurants under one roof in a former banking hall. There is also members only area on the roof (which I managed to get a peak at because one of the parties who we were having lunch with is a member).

When I eat out I generally try to have something healthy and nutritious and when I saw the menu for Malibu Kitchen I was like yasss… The restaurant serves healthy Californian food and boosts a menu of superfood salads, cured fish and meats.

Starter

I went for a cured and raw seabass ceviche, datterini tomato, jolapeno and plantain chips… I actually chose this dish because of the plantain chips because plantain is bae). This dish had a great mix of textures.

Mains

For mains, I had more seabass… with turmeric, lemon, mint and samphire as well as braised kale and sweet potato fries (not pictured). Mmm…

Dessert

Finally, for dessert I had a Malibu Sunrise smoothie (yes a smoothie lol) it was made with strawberry, avocado, acai, goji, coconut and apple juice.

Turmeric Latte

I also tried a coconut turmeric latte for the first time. Turmeric has so many great health benefits - it's a powerful antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory properties and is known for its healing properties. I usually take organic turmeric curcumin supplements with black pepper, cook with turmeric and even add it to smoothies from time to time but never actually had a turmeric latte. Might just be my new morning drink…

I loved the selection of food on the menu, the portion sizes where substantial too and the restaurant was bright and modern yet quirky. Take a look here. My only criticism of the restaurant was that it felt a little cramped, having said that I would highly recommend Malibu Kitchen if you are after a healthy spot with a good menu. Plus, I can’t wait to go back to try out more of the menu and the smoothies!

What are some of your favourite healthy restaurants in London?

Thanks for stopping by!
