Nylah Naturals Hair Care for Afro and Curly Hair Review

Nylah Naturals kindly sent me their I Love My Hair Kit which includes a Strength & Shine Shampoo Cream, Super Botanicals Conditioner and Super Seeds Hair Oil to try out and I am impressed… Read on for more and my review of Nylah Hair Care.

I first learnt about Nylah Hair Care when watching Dragons’ Den, I regularly watch the series and loved seeing an afro hair brand on the show. So, you can imagine I was very excited to try out the range when Nylah reached out to me. Nylah's formulas are suitable for all the family and was initially crafted for the founder’s daughter who had eczema. Nylah hair care is made without mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, artificial colours, parabens, formaldehyde, SLS and SLES.

The range includes a shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, leave-in cream, leave-in spray and serum. The box which I received was the I Love My Hair Kit which includes stickers and an activity book to help empower young girls to embrace, celebrate and love their natural afro and curls. My daughter (who has curly/ type 3 hair) liked the stickers and has added them to her room.

Nylah Strength & Shine Shampoo Cream

In Nylah’s I Love My Hait Kit is a creamy shampoo which is made with ginger, lime, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon and sweet orange. To use, simply apply to wet hands and then massage into hair and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Check out my top tips for Shampooing here.

Nylah Strength and Shine Shampoo offers a rich foamy lather and leaves my hair and my little ones hair clean without feeling stripped of moisture. I really like Nylah's shampoo and when using this product I do two shampoos enough to leave my hair beautifully cleansed and prepared for conditioning. Nylah’s shampoo is another one for my list of Best Shampoos for Natural Hair as it’s definitely up their with some of my favourite shampoos.

Nylah Super Botanicals Conditioner

Formulated with shea butter, pea protein, jojoba oil and crambe seed oil, Nylah’s Super Botanicals Conditioner softens and protects hair whilst leaving it feeling moisturised. To use I simply apply Nylah Super Botanicals Conditioner to hair after shampooing and leave the conditioner on for 10 minutes and rinse well with cool water. If you have time, you can leave it on for longer for more deep conditioning.

Nylah’s conditioner has a ton of slip, is super concentrated (so you don’t need to use a lot) and I like that it comes in a squeezy bottle. It brings my toddler and my hair back to life on wash day.

For my toddler’s hair I use a small amount as she has looser type 3 curls and for my hair I used Nylah’s Super Botanicals Conditioner in the shower with my Manta Kinks, Curls and Coils Hair and Scalp Brush which helped make detangling a breeze. Oh and I love the uplifting lime scent of this conditioner which is the same as the Nylah's shampoo.

Nylah Super Seed Hair Oil

Finally in the I Love My Hair Kit is the rejuvenating and reparative Nylah Super Seeds Hair Oil. Made with a blend of 11 Botanical oils (avocado, apricot, macadamia, argan, hemp, moringa, passion fruit, jojoba, crambe, castor, grapefruit) plus vitamin E, this oil was the star product in the Nylah hair kit for me.

I use Nylah Super Seeds Hair Oil as a pre-shampoo before Nylah Strength & Shine Shampoo and also use a few drops for additional shine in between wash days. Nylah Super Seeds Hair Oil is pretty versatile and can be used on the hair, scalp, body and as a beard oil and it has a refreshing orange scent.

To sum up, I've been enjoying the Nylah naturals hair range, it works on both for my type 4 natural kinky afro hair and my daughter's type 3 curly hair. My fave product from the Nylah hair range is the Super Seeds Hair Oil - one for my Best Hair Oils for Natural Hair list!

Also, I love that the brand is creating positive conversations around natural hair care for little ones and encouraging them to love their natural afro and curly hair.

Nylah's hair range also includes a Maximum Moisture Hair Spray and I have my eye on their Moisture Retention Leave-In Cream and Flourish Hair Restorative Serum… You can purchase Nylah afro and curly hair range here or here.
