Camille Rose Naturals x TreasureTress

The September 2019 TreasureTress* box was a Camille Rose takeover. When I saw the big reveal on Instagram I had serious FOMO but TreasureTress kindly sent me a box which literally made my month. If you saw my previous Camille Rose Naturals Review you’ll know that I am a fan of the brand. Plus, the Algae Renew Deep Conditioner and the Almond Jai Twisting Butter both left my natural 4C hair feeling soft and smelling lush. Better yet, I really like Camille Rose’s rich, gourmet, foodie inspired natural hair care products.

Camille Rose Naturals Products

In the September TreasureTress box, there were five full sized Camille Rose products:

So far I’ve found that the products are good for helping to revive and nourish dry hair.  Read on for my thoughts on each of the five products.

Camille Rose Naturals Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse

Key ingredients

  • Ginger Root - cleanses and clarifies the scalp

  • Aniseed Oil  - moisturises to relieve dry scalp

Camille Rose Naturals Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse

I was excited to try Camille Rose Naturals Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse as its not sold at Boots and I was keen to try the deep conditioner with a hair cleanser/shampoo from the same range. This cleansing rinse also contains lemon, castor oil and almond oil too and smells divine.

It is very gentle too. On washday, I did a DIY pre-shampoo treatment with a blend of natural oils then applied the Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse to my scalp and massaged the product in until it began to lather then rinsed. I found this Camille Rose Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse had a light foam and rinsed out easily and despite that it left my hair feeling clean and not stripped.

Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Mask

Key ingredients

  • Unrefined cocoa and mango butter - natural moisturisers

  • Pure blue algae - helps prevent thinning and breakage

Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Mask

According to Healthy magazine (Oct/Nov 2019 issue), blue algae is currently one of the trendy ingredients for beauty buffs. It is a rich source of retinoic acid (a form of vitamin A) which helps boost elasticity and aids moisture retention and is loaded with other vitamins and minerals.

I’ve reviewed this Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Hair Mask in a previous post and my love for it still stands. It’s on my list of best moisturising deep conditioners for type 4 natural hair (keep an eye out for that post coming soon…). The scent, texture, results are great! I was very pleased that this product was in TreasureTress as I was due a top-up.

Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter

Key ingredients

  • Green Tea - helps reduce inflammation and has antiseptic properties

  • Jojoba Oil - moisturises hair and scalp

Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter

In addition to green tea and jojoba oil this creamy Curlaide Moisture Butter) contains organic rice milk and slippery elm bark as well as aloe vera juice.

Making it perfect for juicy twists, twist outs and braid outs. I used it for a flat twist out and I was pleased with the results. My hair felt and looked well moisturised (a result of an overall bomb washday). My hair was more defined after using Camille Rose Curlaide Moisture Butter than when I use Almond Jai Twisting Butter. However, this is probably due to the technique used. For a super defined look and more hold I'd recommend pairing this Moisture Butter with a Gel.

Having said that both the Almond Jai Twisting Butter and Curlaide Moisture Butter are fab stylers but I am leaning more towards Curlaide now. Plus, the texture was a little creamier and the fragrance softer (I do still really like Almond Jai). Curlaide feels like it will be perfect for the colder months when hair is in need for more moisture.

Lastly, I didn’t need to layer it with a leave-in or need to use a lot of the product and the slip was perfect.

Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk

Key ingredients

  • Rice Milk - packed with vitamins A, D and B12

  • Macadamia Oil - seals in moisture

  • Slippery elm bark - softens and detangles

I have mixed feelings about this Curl Love Moisture Milk ) as mentioned in a previous camille rose naturals review, maybe I used too much but online there are lots of positive reviews for this hair milk. I have continued to use it since because I paid some serious coins for it… I’m not the only one who does that right?

Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave-In Detangling Hair Treatment

Key ingredients

  • Coconut water - provides a source of vitamin K, and iron to help soften hair

  • Flaxseed oil - helps lock in moisture

Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave-In Detangling Hair Treatment

If you have been following me for awhile you’ll know I am nuts about coconuts - it is literally life.

I just love how versatile and beneficial coconuts are - you cook with it, add it to my smoothies, use it on my skin and of course in my hair too. Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave-In Detangling Hair Treatment) is nice. I used it mainly on dry hair as a refresher though it can also be used on wet hair or even used as a co-wash or rinse out conditioner (yassss to multi-purpose products).

In addition to the key ingredients above it also contains nourishing marshmallow root, hemp oil, shea butter and grapeseed oil. It has an almost jelly like consistency (like jelly coconut) but it melts into hair beautifully, felt lightweight and leaves hair with a nice shine. I much prefer this Coconut Water Treatment to the Curl Love Moisture Milk. It smells sweet and fruity rather than coconutty and has a good level of slip for detangling (possibly due to the marshmallow root in the formula).

Final thoughts on the Camille Rose x TreasureTress box

You've probably already guessed it… I was pretty pleased with the contents of this TreasureTress box.

My faves (in addition to the Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Hair Mask) are the Curlaide Moisture Butter and Coconut Water Leave-In Detangling Hair Treatment. They all worked well on my type 4 natural hair and left my hair feeling very moisturised.
