I’ve seen Coco & Eve’s Nourishing Coconut and Fig Hair Masque all over social lately and it’s picked up top awards from Pure Beauty, Beauty Magazine, Glamour and the Hair awards. But is it worth the hype though?

Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Super Nourishing Coconut and Fig Hair Masque

This masque/deep conditioner claims to be suitable for all hair types which made me a bit sceptical because there are so many different hair types and needs. But I tried Coco & Eve Nourishing Coconut and Fig Hair Masque a few times as part of my usual wash day routine on my hair which is type 4, natural afro hair. The instructions recommend leaving it on for up to 10 minutes though you can leave it on for longer and even overnight.  I left it on for 30 minutes each time.

I want to make this review a little more structured so I’ll breakdown the ingredients, benefits, price, fragrance and feel of my hair during and after use as these are the areas I think are useful for assessing whether or not a product is good for your hair. Let me know if you find this useful too.

Key Ingredients in Coco & Eve Hair Masque

The product is formulated with:

  • Raw Virgin Coconut from Bali which helps prevent breakage and promotes healthy scalp

  • Fig Extract and Shea Butter - great for moisturising and detangling hair

  • Argan Oil - aka liquid gold - adds gloss/shine

  • Linseed (flaxseed) - improves gloss/texture

Also, this mask is sulphate free, paraben free, phthalate free and vegan friendly. You can check out the full ingredients here.

Benefits of Coco & Eve Hair Masque

The masque claims to be is a 5-in-1 treatment which;

  • rejuvenates and revives damaged hair,

  • replenishes moisture loss,

  • improves texture and shine,

  • treats split ends,

  • provides noticeable difference after just one wash.

I am pleased to say that Coco & Eve helped replenish moisture loss and my hair did look shiny after use and felt revived. However, I can’t testify to split ends treatment as the only thing that can truly help with split ends is a good trim. If you leave split ends in your hair they will continue to travel down the hair shaft and eventually the hair will break off. I have been suffering from split ends lately so I did a DIY trim and got a little scissors happy but hey, it’s all about health over length right?

Price of Coco & Eve

Priced at £34.90 a pot, Coco and Eve is probably one of the most expensive hair masks that I’ve used to date. However, it came with a complimentary brush and a handy microfibre hair turban too. I tried the brush provided on my hair but I had to reach for my denman brush instead… so I question the suitability of the Coco and Eve brush for my hair type. I love a microfibre towel for drying my hair because they cause less friction than normal towels when it comes to trying your hair which helps reduce frizz and breakage.

Fragrance

The masque has a pleasant subtle sweet yet powdery fragrance which isn’t overpowering.

Feel of hair

Coco & Eve hair masque is super creamy and has a good level of slip. Plus, it distributed well throughout my hair and felt like a good quality mask. My hair felt nourished and was super defined after use.

The other products that I paired Coco and Eve with on my washday were Palmer’s Coconut Oil Zero Break Cleansing Oil Shampoo, Shea Moisture Raw Shea Detangler as a leave-in conditioner and my DIY whipped Hair Butter as sealant.

So is Coco & Eve Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque worth the hype?

Coco & Eve’s hair masque is nice but I have used similar quality masks/deep conditioners for a fraction of the price. I do love the fragrance and packaging and when I first opened the box it felt like opening a present! So I’d recommend this hair mask as an occasional treat or as a present for family and friends.
