Flora and Curl: Natural Hair Care Review
I first discovered Flora & Curl on Instagram and I was intrigued by their Curl Refresh Clay Wash. Plus, I was pleased to see that the products contain lots of natural and organic ingredients, the floral packaging is super cute and their formulas are also sulphate, silicone and paraben free.
So, I was excited to see Flora & Curl at CurlyTreats Fest last July. I purchased Flora & Curl's Clay Wash at CurlyTreats Fest and I received a sample of the Flower Garden Hair Butter as a gift with purchase. Flora and Curl* kindly sent me the Organic Rose and Honey Leave-In, African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Hair Oil, and Jasmine Oasis Hair Mist to try out. As my set was complete I couldn’t wait to get stuck in with the products for a complete wash day experience!
Flora & Curl - Curl Refresh Clay Wash
Clay masks are amazing for your skin. But did you know they are great for your hair too? Clay clarifies your hair and scalp to remove product build-up and draws out dirt and impurities.
This Curl Refresh Clay Wash is formulated with Bentonite clay, Rhassoul clay (moroccan lava), softening organic Coconut and Banana powder and stimulating Peppermint and Eucalyptus oils. It’s essentially a 2-in-1 purifying and conditioning clay wash so saves time on washday.
The directions recommend mixing 2 tbsp to 4 tbsp with warm water and mix to activate. I am a little extra and heavy handed with product so I doubled the recipe. My paste didn’t end up very smooth (it was a bit lumpy) but when I applied the mixture to my hair all lumps literally melted into my hair. I was amazed to say the least... the formula became a little frothy on application to hair. I left the Clay Wash on to do its magic under a shower cap whilst I had a shower.
Up until now I had only used pure Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay in my hair. Flora & Curl’s Clay Wash rinsed out easily and left no residue. Better yet, my hair and scalp felt refreshed! My hair was popping and felt soft yet clean. You know that feeling after you’ve had a good face mask - that’s how my hair felt...
Flora & Curl recommends using this Clay Wash ever 3 to 4 weeks or every 2 weeks for dry hair. I plan to incorporate clay washes/masks into my regimen at least once per month.
Flora & Curl - Organic Rose and Honey Milk Leave-In Detangler
I love a good leave-in conditioner… When I first applied the Organic Rose and Honey Milk Leave-In Detangler, I was impressed! Flora & Curl weren’t playing when they made this product. It’s formulated with organic Rose Water, Coconut oil, Honey, Oat and Marigold. This Leave-In Conditioner is lightweight with great slip, a little really does go a long way, it made detangling a breeze and left my hair feeling moisturised. This product is going on my list of favourite leave-in conditioners...
Flora & Curl African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Hair Oil
I followed the Organic Rose and Honey Milk Leave In with a little bit of the African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Hair Oil to help seal in the moisture. This oil is blended with 10 oils including Avocado, Papaya, Watermelon and Jojoba but it’s not greasy at all. The pump application is a lovely idea - no slippery hands when trying to hold the bottle during styling! The oil had a lovely citrus fragrance and wasn't overpowering. Just like the leave-in you don't need a lot to get the job done.
Flora & Curl Jasmine Oasis Floral Hydration Hair Mist
I used the Jasmine Oasis Hair Mist on dry hair as a spritz to hydrate and refresh my hair before putting my hair into mini twists with the Flower Garden Hair Butter. It was great for hydrating my twists during the week. The combination of Rose Water, Aloe and Jasmine really does smell lovely. This Hair Mist would be great for other protective styles like braids too.
Flora & Curl Flower Garden Hair Butter Concentrate
The Hair Butter was also fab and lightweight. It contains Shea Butter, Camellia Oil and Sweet Almond Oil and infused with Lavender, Hibiscus and Rose. You can use it for twisting as well as for deep conditioning. I didn’t have enough for a deep conditioning so used it for twisting. My hair was left soft and smelling sweet!
Overall, I really liked the Flora & Curl hair care range as the products were lightweight yet hydrating. Also, it has some great ingredients and no harsh chemicals. If I had to choose some faves it would have to be the Curl Refresh Clay Wash and the Leave-In Detangler. Have you tried any products from Flora & Curl before? You can discover the full range which also includes an African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Shampoo.
Thanks for stopping by!
