Flora and Curl Review: Organic Rose & Honey Shampoo and Conditioner + Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion and Defining Gel

I've been using the new Flora and Curl Organic Rose & Honey Cream Shampoo and Cream Conditioner, Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion & Curl Defining Gel for the past few weeks and my hair likes them.

Flora & Curl Organic Rose & Honey Cream Shampoo

Made with oats, organic rose water and pro vitamin B5, Flora & Curl’s Organic Rose & Honey Cream Shampoo cleanses and hydrates all curl types. I like the gentle foam which helps make it easy to rinse out, however it does leave hair feeling squeaky clean but I don’t mind this when I have lots of product build-up in my hair. This natural shampoo has a pleasant sweet floral fragrance too.

Flora & Curl Organic Rose & Honey Cream Conditioner

Flora & Curl’s Organic Rose & Honey Cream Conditioner hydrates natural hair with organic Rose Water, Aloe, antioxidant rich Camellia Green Tea and nine oils and butters like Avocado, Olive Oil and Shea Butter to help restore dry hair. I’ve started to use it with the reverse washing method i.e. before the shampoo and it works well.

This conditioner has a tone of slip and makes detangling easy. I've been leaving my natural 4c hair out in an afro and it help remove any tangles. The scent is consistent with the Cream Shampoo and it leaves my natural hair feeling super soft and looking more defined. Also the pump bottle works well and makes the formula east to dispense, the consistency reminds me of Shea Moisture Raw Shea Conditioner (which my hair also loves).

Flora & Curl Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion

This curl styling cream is a real gem and one of my favourites of the four new Flora & Curl hair products. Flora & Curl Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion is designed to activate your curl shape and defined without crunch and is perfect for wash and gos, twist outs and braid outs.

It left my curls feeling light and airy yet defined and worked beautifully for twists. Additionally, it has a number of nourishing ingredients like Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil and Burdock Root which leaves my hair sooo soft and smelling yummy.

I use it on wet hair on washday and during the week I mist my hair and then apply a few pumps of the curl activating lotion every couple of days to refresh my hair with little build-up.

Flora & Curl Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel

Finally Flora & Curl Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel contains rice protein and marshmallow root for added slip and conditioning whilst helping to hold twist outs and braid outs and define wash and go’s. Initially when I used this with the curl lotion I did have some flaking but this was because I used too much. I am not a massive fan of gels and rarely use them but this reminds me a bit of mielle organics honey and ginger gel.

Overall I have been enjoying using Flora & Curl Organic Rose & Honey Cream Shampoo and Cream Conditioner plus the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion and Defining Gel. The formulas don’t weigh hair down. My favourites of the four are the Flora & Curl’s Organic Rose & Honey Cream Conditioner and Flora & Curl Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion. The Cream Conditioner will be perfect in the colder months due to the presence of honey in the formula as honey is a humectant which helps draw moisture from the air and the Curl Lotion is very moisturising too.
