Skin Food Smoothie Bowl

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what I use on my skin but it’s not just about what you apply to the skin topically… It’s also about what you put in your body and keeping active. Don’t get me wrong, naturally inspired skincare helps too! But regular smoothies, exercise and wholesome foods will help keep you glowing too…

My Skin Food Smoothie Bowl Recipe

  • 1/2 Frozen avocado

  • 1 Frozen banana

  • 1/2 Papaya

  • 1 cup Kale

  • 15g Ginger

  • 120ml Vita Coco Coconut Water

Place all ingredients into a blender (I always use my trusty Nutribullet) and blend until smooth.

Smoothie Bowl Toppings

I went for the following which I picked up in Holland and Barrett.

  • organic mulberries

  • organic omega shake - pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and linseed.

Skin Food Smoothie Benefits

Kale - love it or hate it Kale is loaded with vitamins A,C, K, iron, lutein and antioxidants which help reduce dark circles, supports collagen production and detoxifies the skin.

Avocado - this creamy fruit aka nature’s butter is packed with vitamins B, C, E and K. Plus, it contains fatty acids, potassium, lutein and other great minerals.

Coconut water - with all the hype coconut has had over the past few years I’m sure you know how hydrating it is. Coconut water is loaded with electrolytes and potassium which makes it hydrating. It also helps keep the skin looking healthy and plump!

Banana - they are not only mood and energy boosting but you guessed it… they are good for the skin too and literally goes hand in hand with avocado in a smoothie.

Papaya - I talked about the gut benefits in my previous tropical green smoothie recipe but it’s great for keeping the skin glowing.

Ginger - kills bad bacteria in your gut which improves your overall gut microbiome as there will be a better ratio of good to bad bacteria and so in turn your skin will benefit too.
